Parks and Recreation Commission
Minutes of 8/11/92
Members present:
Floyd Roden
Andy Beecher
Mark Wallace (Chair)
Jacquie Rognli
Tom Constant
Darlene Solberg
Jeff Asfahl, Recreation Coordinator, and Lana Rubin, Community Ed
Intern, were also present.
Meeting was called to order at 7:30 pm.
The first agenda item was the consideration of the minutes from the July
12th meeting. Paragraph 7 should read 'Jacquie will look into trails and
Mark will look into park funding'. With corrections, Tom moved to
approve minutes, Jacquie seconded. Passed.
Jacquie had obtained information on membership to NRPA, National
Recreation and Park Association. Agency membership fee is $230. Mark
will check further into MRPA (Minnesota Recreation and Park Association)
membership information and bring it to our October meeting. Darlene
moved that the Commission seek City Council approval to join MRPA as
an Agency (the amount should be less than the $230 membership fee for
NRPA). Jacquie seconded the motion.
Darlene also moved that the Chairperson of the Parks and
Recreation Commission become a member of NRPA as a Professional
member (rather than the Agency membership). The cost is $35 for a
Professional Volunteer membership; this will also go before City Council
for approval. Jacquie seconded.
Comprehensive Plan
Mark pointed out changes and improvements that will be made
to the maps. The Plan will be submitted to City Council for the final
approval hearing September 21st. Tom moved to approve the final
draft of the Comprehensive Plan with the changes. Seconded by
Darlene. Passed.
A subcommittee, consisting of Tom, Jacquie and Andy, was formed and
will be working on a brochure which will be included in Otsego's folder of
city information to be given to new and prospective residents. The
subcommittee will meet and report at the September meeting.
Mark will look into park funding and report at October meeting. Jacquie
made contacts regarding trail funding but hadn't received responses to
date. Trail funding information will be reported at September meeting.
Commission agreed to make more specific plans for the park
land at the new City Hall site at the September meeting.
Darlene moved to adjourn. Tom seconded. Meeting adjourned.
