09-08-92 PRCity of Otsego Parks and Recreation Commission Minutes of 9/8/92 Members present: Tom Constant (Vice Chair) Andy Beecher Jacquie Rognli Darlene Solberg Carl Swenson Floyd Roden Tom called the meeting to order at 7:35 pm. The first item on the agenda was consideration of the August minutes. Jacquie moved to approve them and Carl seconded. Next, the commission prioritized park plans for the new City Hall property into three phases: Phase 1 *access road to back half of property •parking area •area grated for softball field(s) •as much work on trails as can be done •portable toilets (rented) *picnic tables Phase 2 *(at least) one backstop for softball field(s) ,plant low maintenance trees/shrubs along trails •one large picnic shelter with (at least) one permanent grill and tables •possibly a grill for each picnic site, depending on popularity •expand and improve trails •start tot lot in picnic area •a mowed area for general recreational activities (touch football, soccer,etc.) Phase 3 *concession building/permanent toilets/maintenance building (one structure) *complete softball fields •electrical power out to buildings •start prairie restoration •possibility of sand volleyball courts and other recreational areas Jacquie distributed literature regarding state trail funding, which, at this time, does not look promising. Mark was looking into park funding at August meeting. Darlene and Floyd noted a joint meeting (Thursday the 11th) between City Council and the School Board about the new school. The meeting will include some discussion of parks and trails. The request for memberships to NPRA and MRPA were approved by City Council. Rick Savitzki has resigned from the commission. A replacement should be sought by City Council. The Parks and Rec brochure created for the city folder was distributed. Darlene moved to approve the brochure with the Nashua Avenue bicycle trail removed. Carl seconded. Jacquie moved to seek City Council approval for outside printing of the brochure. Darlene seconded.
