Minutes of 1/12/93

The first item on the agenda was the consideration of the minutes
from the Dec. 8th meeting. Carl moved to approve the minutes,
Darlene seconded.
Parks and Rec Budget
Tom B. outlined a proposed operating budget and preliminary
proposed budget for Phase 1 of the City Hall Park.
For the road and parking lot, approximately 2000 tons of Class 5 will
be needed at a cost of
• $3.20/ton for Class 5
• $4.20/ton for Recycled Class 5
Tom B. suggested the possibility of writing a grant to the county for the
$1.00/ton difference for recycled class 5. This has been done in other
counties.
It is planned that excavation of the entire area, which includes the
ball fields, road, parking lot, volleyball courts and shelters, will be done all
at once to save overall cost.
Tom B. brought information on the Adopt - A - Park program. It was
decided that area community grroups would be invited to our February
meeting to talk over possible help with Phase 1 park plans.
Jacquie suggested a "Wish Book" with ideas of projects/desired
equipment needed for the park so that if groups or families wanted to
know what they could do to help they could get ideas and plans from
this catalog.
Tom B. also brought catalogs of shelters, tables and playground
equipment for costs and planning ideas.
An Adopt - A - Tree program was discussed and it was decided to
add that to Phase 1 of the Park Plan, and to be worked on this winter and
spring. Jacquie will research types of trees and ideal locations, etc.
Sand volleyball courts, a sliding hill and a tot sand box were also
added to Phase 1 with locations to be discussed at the February
meeting.
Darlene gave a report of the Northwest Suburban Trail System
meeting of Jan 5th at Dayton.
