Staff recommends that the attached resolution be adopted waiving the requirement for a security
officer at the Otsego Lion's Club annual members meeting.

BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
The Otsego Lion's Club has requested a waiver from the City requirement for a security officer at their
annual members only party. The Lion's Club provides substantial benefit to residents and the
community as a whole, and the party is a once a year affair with members only and is a minimal security
risk.

RESOLUTION NO.2015-75
RESOLUTION REGARDING WAIVER OF CERTAIN POLICY
REQUIREMENTS- OTSEGO LION'S CLUB
WHEREAS; the Otsego Lion's Club is a local organization that provides numerous
donations to the residents of the City of Otsego; and
WHEREAS, the Otsego Lion's Club has an annual club party at the City of Otsego's
facilities, attended only by members; and
WHEREAS, at said event a small amount of alcoholic beverages are consumed; and
WHEREAS, the City of Otsego's rental policy (Prairie Center Reservation Policy,
Policy 05.0, Section 05.05.06, C,4,f) requires that the renter provide a security officer at
any event where alcoholic beverages are consumed.
NOW THEREFORE the CITY COUNCIL of the City of Otsego resolves as follows:
1. In light of the numerous contributions to community residents made by the
Otsego Lion's Club and their general service to the community, the City Council
waives the requirement for a security officer at the annual Lion's Club party. All
other City ordinance and policy requirements apply.
2. City staff are hereby directed to undertake administrative procedures necessary to
effectuate this Resolution.
ADOPTED this 14th day of December, 2015 by the City Council of the City of Otsego,
Wright County, Minnesota.
