Re: List of Potential Changes to Prairie Park
Below is a list of potential changes to Prairie Park.
The list is not in any particular order. These include
all suggestions that anyone has made. Cost estimates
are from a bid made by American Liberty Construction
last fall. Please review the list for corrections,
additions, deletions, etc.
After review by the Park & Recreation Commission this
list will reviewed with Public Works Supervisor Brad
Belair to see what he thinks his department can do and
presented to the City Council for authorization to seek
bids.

1. Horseshoe Pits. Install a wood back stop and rubber
mats to control flying horseshoes.
2. Garbage Cans. Install more permanent garbage cans,
especially near the skate park.
3. Ballfield Benches. Purchase additional benches to
provide more room. Install protective screening around
the benches.
4. Ballfield Drainage Ditch. Have the City Engineer
survey the drainage around the ball fields to see if
the drainage ditches could be moved or filled to create
more useable land.
5. Soccer Field. Construct a small soccer field on the
north side of the park where it juts out behind the
adjacent farm.
6. Park Shelter. Install sharp pointed metal objects
to keep nasty birds out of the rafters so they will
stop pooping on the picnic tables.

Re: Update on Change Order Items for Prairie Park
This memo is an update on the work authorized to be
done in Prairie Park on September 27, 2004. There was
a list of nine possible items, of which the City
Council authorized four to be done.
1) Extend Ballfield Fences to End of Infield - This
work is incomplete. The work appears to be complete
(tough to tell where the end of the infield is under
two inches of snow) on two of the ballfields. It has
not been started on the other two.
2) Move Player Benches Closer to Backsto-o and Enclose
- This work is also incomplete. It has been completed
on the same two fields as Item #1 and not started on
the other two. I agree with Peter's comment that more
room and screening is needed for the player benches.
That is included in the list of future improvements to
Prairie Park.
3) Install Two Benches Along Path - This work has been
completed.
4) Install 10 Foot High Fence along Short Field - This
work has not been started.
I have called the contractor and asked him to provide a
timeframe for when they will be finished this spring.
