PARK & RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES
OCTOBER 12, 2005 7:00 PM
Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at
7:00 PM.
Roll Call: Commissioners: Russ Langer, Kathy
Roberts, Peter Torresani, Rose Cassady, Virginia
Duran, and Mike Brumm.
Absent: Chair Aaron Stritesky.
Councilmembers: Jessica Stockamp.
Staff: City Administrator Mike Robertson.
Agenda Approval:
Commissioner Brumm, seconded by Commissioner
Roberts, moved to approve the agenda. Carried 6-0.
Approval of minutes from August 10, 2005 meeting:
Commissioner Cassady, seconded by Commissioner
Langer, moved to approve the minutes as presented.
Carried 6-0.
Administrator Robertson noted that since the
September meeting was a joint meeting with the City
Council the City Council would approve the minutes.
Community Recreation Events: Carole McNaughten-
Commers of the School District Community Education
was present. Carole reviewed the participation
numbers and the revenues for the 2005 recreation
events. Participation and revenues have both
increased substantially. The City served between
500 and 600 people in the recreation program and
the cost to the City was $268.00 plus Community
Education's administrative costs. Carole did not
have the final figures for administrative costs but
estimated them at about $10,000. Robertson noted
that these costs were within what was budgeted for
the year.
Recreation for Next Year: commissioners agreed
upon the following;
T-Ball/Toss Ball - Maintain the same Tuesday
Thursday evening time slots. Add an additional
slot during the day on Monday & Wednesday to go
with the day slot on Tuesday and Thursday.
Baseball - Maintain the same Monday and Wednesday
evening time slots.
Summer Entertainment - Commissioners agreed to
maintain the same levels of summer entertainment.
Carole said she would try and find some more
diverse entertainers.
Open Gym - This was the lowest attended event.
Commissioners had suggestions for improving
attendance.
Other suggestions for new events included mini -
Olympics, adult volleyball, and Friday night adult
gym.
Pumpkin Patch Day: Commissioners reviewed the
planning for Pumpkin Patch Day.
Adjournment: With no further business the meeting
was adjourned at 9:15p.m.
