11-09-05 PRCITY OF OTSEGO PARK & RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES NOVEMBER 9, 2005 7:00 PM Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM. Roll Call: Commissioners: Virginia Duran, Russ Langer, Peter Torresani, Rose Cassady, and Mike Brumm. Absent: Chair Aaron Stritesky, Kathy Roberts. Councilmembers: Jessica Stockamp & Mark Thorsted. Staff: City Administrator Mike Robertson. Agenda Approval: The following items were added to the agenda. Softball, Skating Rink, and Kadler Avenue Launch Area : Conmissioner Brumm, seconded by Commissioner Cassady, moved to approve the revised agenda. Carried 5-0. Approval of minutes from October 12, 2005 meeting: Commissioner Duran, seconded by Commissioner Cassady, moved to approve the minutes as presented. Carried 5-0. City Update: Administrator Robertson noted that SRF would be attending the December 14 meeting with designs for the three new parks. CM Stockamp asked that City Planner Dan Licht attend the meting as well. Softball: Brian Lindquist of the Girls Fast Pitch Softball Association was present to ask if he could have some field time at Prairie Park during the 2006 season. Brian noted that they serve ages 5- 18. Last year there were 24 teams and 300 participants, with half the teams under ten years old. Brian said he would take weekend time slots but that he would love some during the week. Commissioners were in consensus that the City's program of T-Ball/Toss ball was the top priority and would remain on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Administrator Robertson was asked to check with Community Education for their estimated time usage. Commissioners were also in consensus that the Softball Association should get some field time during the week, either Monday or Wednesday night. Administrator Robertson was directed to call Lincoln of the Baseball Association to discuss the issue with him. Skating Rink: Commissioners asked Administrator Robertson to check with Brad Belair of Public Works and the School District on the possibilities of flooding skating rinks in City parks and at Otsego Elementary school. Kadler Avenue Launch Area: Commissioners indicated that they liked the idea of some type of park at the Kadler Avenue boat launch, and asked Administrator Robertson to have the City Planner bring a sketch of what could go in that area. Possibilities discussed were a dock, picnic area, landscaping, etc. Santa Day: Commissioners reviewed the planning for Santa Day.
