PARK & RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES
APRIL 12, 2006 7:00 PM
Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at
7:00 PM.
Roll Call: Commissioners: Chair Aaron Stritesky,
Mike Drumm, Virginia Goughnour, Russ Langer and
Kathy Roberts.
Absent: Rose Cassady and Peter Torresani.
Councilmembers: Jessica Stockamp.
Staff: City Administrator Mike Robertson.
Agenda Approval: Discussion of the proposed Park
Shelter wall was added to the agenda. Commissioner
Roberts, seconded by Commissioner Langer, moved to
approve the revised agenda. Carried 5-0.
Approval of minutes from March 8, 2006 meeting:
Commissioner Goughnour, seconded by Commissioner
Roberts, moved to approve the minutes as presented.
Carried 5-0.
Park Shelter Wall:
Consensus of the Commission after reviewing the
proposed plan is that they would like to see
bigger, wider windows that were at least half inch
acrylic. Several Commissioners volunteered to
help. Robertson said he would contact the
Commission when a date was set to do the work.
Easter Egg Hunt:
Commissioners estimated that the total attendance
was around 3,000 people, or four times attendance
in 2005. Excellent weather contributed to the
record turnout. For next year's event, items
discussed were having the Sheriff's reserve present
to help with crowd control, having portable signs
for the different activities, and purchasing a
loudspeaker to assist in crowd control and
providing information to people.
City Update: Councilmember Stockamp updated the
Commissioners. Commissioners asked that a map of
the City Parks be put on the City web site.
Adjournment: With no further business Commissioner
Brumm, seconded by Commissioner Langer, moved to
adjourn at 8:07 p.m. Carried 5-0.
