01-10-07 PRCITY OF OTSEGO PARK & RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES JANUARY 10, 2007 7:00 PM Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM. Roll Call: Commissioners: Aaron Stritesky, Kathy Roberts, Mike Brumm, Russ Langer, Beverly Kumar, and Rob Miller. Peter Torresani arrived at 7:38 p.m. Absent: Rose Cassady. Councilmembers: Jessica Stockamp and Mark Thorsted. Staff: City Administrator Michael Robertson. 1. Agenda Approval motion by Commissioner Kumar, seconded by Commissioner Roberts, moved to approve the agenda with the addition of discussion of a recreation survey. Motion carried 6-0. 2. Approval of December 13, 2006 minutes. Motion by Commissioner Roberts, seconded by Commissioner Langer to approve the December 13, 2006 minutes. Carried 6-0. 3. Review of Pumpkin Patch Day Commissioners noted that 750 pumpkins were given away and that in the future signs were needed to direct people and explain the rules. Commissioners decided to limit the number of games and have the Commissioners switch off so no one spends the whole day doing one thing, especially outside. 4. Discussion of Easter Egg Hunt The Easter Egg Hunt was set for Saturday, March 31, 2007 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Commissioners discussed the event and decided to set prizes at the next Commission meeting. 5. Elections Chair: Commissioner Brumm nominated Aaron Stritesky for Chair. Commissioner Roberts nominated Rose Cassady for Chair. There were no more nominations. After secret ballot Aaron Stritesky was chosen as Chair. Vice -Chair: Commissioner Stritesky nominated Mike Brumm. Commissioner Roberts nominated Russ Langer. Commissioner Brumm. nominated Beverly Kumar, but the nomination was withdrawn at Mrs. Kumar's request. After secret ballot Mike Brumm was chosen as vice - Chair. Secretary: Commissioner Kumar nominated Kathy Roberts. Commissioner Roberts nominated Beverly Kumar. Commissioner Brumm nominated Rose Cassady. After secret ballot Beverly Kumar was chosen as Secretary. Councilmembers Stockamp and Thorsted congratulated the new officers. 6. Recreation Survey Commissioner Langer noted that the last recreation survey done was in 1992 and suggested it was time for an updated survey. Commissioners liked the idea and discussed possible topics. Administrator Robertson said he liked the idea and discussed how these types of surveys were designed. Robertson also noted that the City had the money budgeted for a summer intern and that they could possibly do a survey. Commissioners asked Robertson to find out how much St. Michael's citizen survey of a few years ago had cost.
