City Staff recommend approval of entering into contracts with Federal Signal Corporation and Ready
Watt Electric to provide and install an emergency siren near the intersection of Nadala Avenue and 70th
St.

BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
New utilities have been installed along 70th Street. With the relocation of those utilities underground
and the completion of 701h St, the installation of an emergency siren can begin.
The location, near the intersection of Nadala Avenue and 70th Street, will provide coverage to dozens of
new homes in the west sewer district as well as several existing more rural homes (see attached
coverage map — proposed siren coverage signified by red circle). The installation of this siren has been
included within the 2016 Capital Improvement Plan.
• The siren will be provided and delivered to the City by Federal Signal Corporation at the quoted
price of $12,160.00.
• The siren will be installed by Ready Watt Electric at a quoted price of 8,269.00. Price includes a
55' wooden pole.
• Power, transformer and meter will be installed by Wright -Hennepin at the quoted price of
$575.00.
• The total cost of the siren and installation is quoted at $20,929.00.
The amount in the CIP for the siren is $20,429.00.
