Otsego Public Commission Minutes
January 12, 2016
1) Meeting called to order 6:30pm
Roll call: Mark Driste, Chuck Schauss, Tina Driste, Jim Breitbach, Greg Hubbard, Mark
Lucht, CM Warenhime, Elk River Deputy Chief Surratt, Rogers Fire Chief Feist,
Albertville Fire Chief Bullen, Wright County Deputy Gerads
Absent: Paul Fields, Elk River Fire Chief Cunningham, Mayor Stockamp, Allina
Ambulance/Elk River paramedics
2) Meeting agenda approved motion by Jim Breitbach, 2nd by Mark Lucht. All in favor.
Motion carried.
3) December meeting minutes approved motion by Chuck Schauss, 2nd by Greg Hubbard.
All in favor. Motion carried.
4) Open forum —nothing noted
5) Public Safety:
5.1-Wright County Deputy Gerads is new to are, 3 new deputies to Otsego, December
was mainly medical calls
5.2-Rogers fire — Otsego no calls
Dec 26 Active shooter event training —successful
1-10-16 ice rescue training on Lake Mtka -14 degrees —successful
5.3-Elk River Jan 25 Fire Academy starts -wills have students from Albertville,
Zimmerman, Baldwin
New stickering on truck — "Proudly Serving City of Elk River City of Otsego Big Lake
Township"
5.4-Albertville fire --quiet December
3 reserves to ER academy
Washing machine should be installed beginning of Feb
F/U at Riverwood with State Fire Inspector —issues given 10 days and 30 days to
complete which is reasonable
6) Old Business: CERT —Wright County does not have a CERT program
Chuck will try to get Plymouth CERT to come out and do an informational meeting
Discussion ongoing about what our Safety committee would like to do for Public
Education
7) New Business: Need to reschedule Aug 9 and Nov 8 meeting due to Primary and General
elections —Aug 9 will change to Aug 1 Oth and we will do road clean up, we will wait
until closer to Nov to decide on a date to have this meeting based on need and what we
need to accomplish at that point in the year
It was brought up to CM Warenhime that there would be the potential for a city combined
Safety Camp between Elk River and Otsego -alternating host cities —Ross will discuss
next month
8) City Council Meeting Update:
December 14- Chuck -- truth in taxation
January 11-no update
9) City Council Assignments:
January 25-Jim Breitbach
Feb 8-Mark Lucht
Feb 22- Mark Driste
