MEETING MINUTES
SEPTEMBER 11, 2002 - 7:00 PM
1. Chair Mike Day will call meeting to order.
Mike Day called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
Roll Call:
Park & Recreation Commission: Mike Day, Tom Constant, Terry
Long, Pauline Nelson, Rose Cassady, and Jessica Stockamp.
Absent: Jim Gaikowski and Tom Baillargeon.
Councilmembers: CM Jerry Struthers.
Staff: City Administrator Mike Robertson.
Approval of Agenda - Commissioner Constant, seconded by
Commissioner Stockamp, moved to approve the agenda as
presented. Carried 6-0.
Approval of Minutes - Commissioner Nelson, seconded by
Commissioner Constant, moved to approve the minutes of
August, 14, 2002. Carried 6-0.
Preliminary 2003 Budget - Administrator Robertson reviewed
the 2002 and proposed 2003 budgets. Commissioners asked
Robertson to check and see if the warming house telephone
could be put on measured service as a way to save money.
Commissioners discussed recreation and the consensus was
that the top five activities were T -Ball, softball, soccer,
park activities (Thursdays in the Park, bookmobile, crafts,
etc.) and skating rink. Commissioners said they would work
with whatever recreation budget the Council provided them.
City Update - Robertson noted that the City's park designer
would be at the November 13, 2002 Park & Recreation meeting
to discuss the proposed park plans for Lily Pond Park and
Prairie Park.
Haunted House - The Albertville Lionesses offered to sponsor
a room. Commissioners accepted and established set up dates
of all Tuesday and Thursday evenings in October.
Commissioners requested that the equipment be removed from
the shed by that time.
Commissioners appointed Rose Cassady to handle the
advertising with a budget of $500. Commissioners reviewed
bids for signs to direct people to the Haunted House.
Commissioner Stockamp, seconded by Commissioner Constant,
moved to approve the purchase from Bob's Signs for a total
cost of $975. Carried 6-0.
Otsego Festival - Commissioners Stockamp and Day will staff
the Park & Recreation booth at the Festival from 10:00 a.m.
to 6:00 p.m.
Other Business - Commissioner Constant, seconded by
Commissioner Cassady, moved to purchase four additional
picnic tables for Prairie Park shelter because some of the
new tables have migrated to other parts of the park.
Carried 6-0.
Adjournment - Commissioner Long, seconded by Commissioner
Stockamp, moved to adjourn. Carried 6-0.
