MEETING MINUTES
JANUARY 8, 2003 - 7:00 PM
1. City Administrator Mike Robertson will call meeting to
order. Mike Robertson called the meeting to order at 7:12
p.m.
Roll Call:
Park & Recreation Commission: Jeff Bartheld, Jim Gaikowski,
Pauline Nelson, and Terry Long.
Absent: Rose Cassady and Tom Baillargeon.
Councilmembers: CM Jerry Struthers.
Staff: City Administrator Mike Robertson
In attendance was Peter Torresani of 13718 89th Street, who
was interested in joining the Commission and had just made
application to the City to be appointed.
Election of Officers - Commissioner Nelson, seconded by
Commissioner Gaikowski, nominated Commissioner Bartheld for
Chair. There were no other nominations. Carried 4-0.
Commissioner Long, seconded by Commissioner Gaikowski,
nominated Pauline Nelson for Vice -Chair. There were no
other nominations. Motion carried 4-0.
Chair Bartheld said that the following items would be
priorities of his. He would like to work toward a Community
Center, a Municipal Campground, a Skate Park, a Recreational
Coordinator, and to Improve the Haunted House. He noted
that he would set up committees to work with the Haunted
House, Festival, and the budget.
Administrator Robertson said that he thought the Council
would also like the Commission to make a recommendation as
to what type of facilities would be needed in a large
community park located on the west side of the City, as that
would determine what kind of land the City should look for.
Approval of Agenda - Commissioner Nelson, seconded by
Commissioner Long, moved to approve the agenda as presented.
Carried 4-0.
City Update - Administrator Robertson and Councilmember
Struthers updated Commissioners on recent Council actions,
including the permit for the West Otsego Sewer Plant, the
Waterfront development, and the bidding process for the new
parks.

Haunted House - Commissioner Nelson, seconded by
Commissioner Gaikowski, moved to set the 2003 Haunted House
dates for Saturday, October 18, Friday, October 24, and
Saturday, October 25, 2003. Carried 4-0. Chair Bartheld
asked to have a meeting set up with Dave Chase to review the
tin shed to see what parts of it could be permanently
available for Haunted House equipment. Robertson suggested
that an inventory of all supplies and equipment on hand
would be a good idea.
Adjournment - Commissioner Long, seconded by Commissioner
Nelson, moved to adjourn at 8:10 p.m. Carried 4-0.
