Staff recommends having Pole Painting Plus perform the painting of the 2016 traffic signals.

Part of the 2016 CIP includes the painting of four sets of traffic signal lights. The signals are starting to
show their age and need to be sanded and painted. Staff is recommending that all of the signals on this
year's project be painted a bronze color versus the typical green and yellow combination to hide the
fading and rust as it develops. Wright County and MnDot have both been made aware of the project for
2016 and are in support of the project. They both have free ROW permits regarding traffic control that
must be acquired prior to the project and we will be having the painting contractor be responsible for
taking care of that. The following intersections are included in this year's signal painting project:
• CSAH 39/ HWY 101
• CSAH 39/ CSAH 42
• CSAH 42/ 85th Street
• CSAH 42/ 87th Street
Staff has requested quotes from Pole Painting Plus and OLS Restoration, Inc. to complete the painting
project. Quotes from Pole Painting Plus and OLS Restoration, Inc. were $27,775 and $28,687.50
respectively. Staff is recommending that we have Pole Painting Plus complete the traffic signal painting
project for $27,775. This quoted price is under the amount of $33,320 budgeted for 2016. The Public
Works Subcommittee was presented with this information and recommended that it be placed on consent
agenda.
