RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends ordering the preparation of plans and specifications for the construction of a
bituminous trail along 70th Street between 72d St and Queens Avenue.

BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
A short connection of off street trail is needed to provide safe connectivity to the trail system. The trail
is approximately 800' long and proposed to be located on the south side of CSAH 37 in front of Anoka
Equine property within County right of way. Current trails that it would provide connection to are the
Quaday Avenue trail located east of TH101 and north of CSAH 37, the 72rid Street trail, which extends to
the new Northwood Park and Kwik Trip, and Queens Avenue trail, which is adjacent to the Gateway
North Industrial Park.
The trail would cross CSAH 37 at the TH101 east side ramp/72"d St/CSAH 37 signalized intersection to
provide a safer crossing.
The project was included in the 2016 CIP with an estimated project cost of $43,000.
