Call to Order.
Mayor Jessica Stockamp called the meeting to order at 7:16 PM.
Roll Call: Mayor Jessica Stockamp; Councilmembers: Vern Heidner, Dan Scharber, Doug
Schroeder and Tom Darkenwald.
Staff: Lori Johnson, City Administrator; Gary Groen, Finance Director; Daniel Licht, City Planner;
Ron Wagner, City Engineer; Parks and Recreation Manager Ross Demant; Brad Belair,
Maintenance Supervisor; Kurt Neidermeier, PeopleService and Tami Loff, City Clerk.
1. Strategic Planning.
City Administrator Johnson updated on the directives from the July 9, 2012. The City Council
reviewed each of the objectives and actions presented beginning with the third goal which
include Public safety items related to Police, Fire, Emergency Management and Ambulance
Service. The Council agreed with the objectives and actions as presented with the comments
and exceptions noted below:
Goal 3: Review public safety services.
There was discussion on a resident survey through Survey Monkey. No action at this time the
City Council would like staff to identify potential questions before a decision would be made.
The City Council directed City staff to schedule a workshop with the Wright County Sheriff.
There was discussion on a Fire Station. The City Council directed City staff to add to the
Comprehensive Plan and to identify potential sites.
City Administrator Johnson stated that Albertville had scheduled NIMS training on August 16
form 6-10 PM and has offered the City of Otsego to attend. If the City Council plans on
attending they will notify City Administrator Johnson.
Goal 4: City Identity.
There was discussion on Code Enforcement. City Administrator Johnson stated this item will be
part of the budget discussion.
The City Council directed City staff to bring back prices on boundary signs. Mayor Stockamp
said she would like to see some sort of volunteer recognition program and the City Council
agreed.
The City Council directed the Public Works Maintenance Supervisor Belair have a couple of the
city vehicles with the new city logo displayed at the Otsego Festival on September 15, 2012.
The City Council stated that the City will hold an Open House of the City Hall at the 2013
Otsego Festival.
The City Council directed City staff to explore a community garden next year.
The City Council agreed that the old City Hall building would be named "Otsego Prairie Center"
and directed City staff to remove the City Hall sign from that building.
2. Any other items.
Mayor Stockamp reminded City staff to make sure City businesses are on the mailing list of the
Otsego Newsletter. City Administrator Johnson said City will work on that.
3. Adjourn.
CM Scharber motioned to adjourn.
