RE: Annual Maintenance Cost for Skating Rink at Prairie Park
Background:
The Parks and Recreation Commission requested City staff to estimate the cost
associated with maintaining the proposed ice rink at Prairie Park. Since this is the first
year of flooding any rink in the City of Otsego in many years, there is an initial start-up
cost associated with the ice rink. For the purpose of this memo staff time will be
calculated using $35 per hour and gas will be at $3.50 per gallon.
The initial set-up of the flooding tank will include a 400 gallon water tank, sump pump,
and generator all to be installed on a 4x8 pallet that will fit in the back of any of the 3/4
ton pick-up trucks the City currently uses. This method will be the only one used to
flood the ice rinks and no hand flooding will be required at any time.
