RECOMMENDATION:
Recommend appointment of the Finance Director as Acting City Administrator when the City
Administrator is out of the office for a timeframe of week or longer or as directed by the City
Administrator or City Council.

BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
There are times when it may be necessary for another employee to handle urgent matters and act on
behalf of the City Administrator in the Administrator's absence. Currently, no department head
position description includes the responsibility of serving as Acting City Administrator; thus, no
employee has the authority to act on the City Administrator's behalf. Therefore, it is prudent to appoint
an Acting City Administrator to act in the absence of the City Administrator.
