BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
The Park Maintenance Seasonal position is a budgeted position that aids our parks maintenance staff
with functions that include but are not limited to trim mowing, weed whipping, field preparation,
general maintenance and garbage collection. Starting wage for a new Seasonal Parks Maintenance
worker is $10 per hour.
The Recreation Program Assistant position is used to help the Recreation Program Lead run a class when
the class level reaches a certain point. Staff monitors these levels, and when the levels reach a point
that adding a program assistant would be paid for through registration fees City staff then adds a
program assistant to help with the program and child to staff ratio. Our typical starting wage for a new
Recreation Assistant is $7.25, however due to the changes in the minimum wage it is scaled depending
on the age of the individual.
