RESOLUTION 2004-66
RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE GENERAL RECORDS RETENTION
SCHEDULE FOR MINNESOTA CITIES
WHEREAS, the City of Otsego wishes to adopt a plan for managing its governmental
records and obtain continuing authority to dispose of records under Minnesota Statutes
section 138.17; and
WHEREAS, the City General Records Retention Schedule establishes minimum
retention periods for city records based on their administrative, fiscal, legal and historical
value and lists records that are common to cities and identifies how long to retain them.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Otsego that the City General
Records Retention Schedule as updated by city clerks and officials representing the
Minnesota Clerks and Finance Officers Association in March 2003 is hereby adopted.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk will notify the State Archives
Department of the Minnesota Historical Society that the City of Otsego has adopted the
schedule and by doing so the City will be authorized to use all future revisions to the
schedule.
Motion for adoption of resolution by Vern Heidner , seconded by
Jerry Struthers at the meeting of the Otsego City Council on the 25th day of
October , 2004.
