Dear Mh Hawkins:
The City Council of the City of Otsego has approved submitting to you this letter of support for Wright
County's efforts to secure Federal funding for improvement of CSAH 37 from TH 10 1 to Oakwood Avenue
within our community.
Over the years, the City has had discussions with Wright County regarding the need to upgrade CSAH 37
due to increased local and regional traffic and the existing roadway being substandard relative to Minnesota
State Aid (MSA) standards. With the mitimied hicrease in traffic projected for this roadway and the
imnihient completion of 70t" Street to an improved MSA collector street in 2015, the City has serious
concerns with the safety of CSAH 37 from TH 101 to Oakwood Avenue as it exists today. A fatality
occurred only a few years ago along this section of CSAH 37 and improvements will minimize the likelihood
Of ft1tUre accidents and/or fatalities.
The proposed upgrade will complete another major improvement recognized in the Northeast Wright Comity
Transportation Plan, which is vital to move traffic efficiently and safely across the southern half of Otsego
from TH101 to CSAH 19 and eventually to a proposed overpass/interchange near Kadler Avenue at 1-94.
This will allow regional traffic to bypass the more congested area within Albertville.
The City Comicil appreciates the efforts of Wright COU11ty to SeCUre funding for this needed improvement
and advance reconstruction of C SAH 37 from TH 10 1 to Oakwood Avenue wi th i 11Otsego.
Sincerely,
CITY OF TSEGO
