Yes No BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION: Water Tower #1, located on 70th Street near TH101 is the original tower constructed in 1999. The tower is one of the two storage tanks serving the Otsego East Public Water System. Inspections conducted in 2015 identified the need for interior and exterior coating replacement. The Water Utility Fund allocated $428,600 in the 2016 budget for the project. The engineering estimate was $391,448 including construction management, observation and repairs. Four bids were opened June 14th with attached tabulation ranging from $390,050 to $561,250. KLM Engineering has reviewed qualifications of the bidders and recommends accepting the lowest qualified bidder, Osseo Construction Co. Engineer's Post Description Estimate Bids Tower #1 Rehabilitation $ 341,000 $ 390,050 Construction Management & Observation (notto exceed) 50,448 50,448 Total $ 391,448. $ 440,498 The Water Utility Fund budget for 2017 will be adjusted to $440,498 to fund the project with approval, and the work would start May Vand finish by July 3d, 2017. RESOLUTION NO. 2016-60 RESOLUTION ACCEPTING BID AND AWARDING CONTRACT WHEREAS, pursuant to an advertisement for bids for City of Otsego Improvement Project No. 601-2016-01, Water Tower 1 Reconditioning bids were received, opened and tabulated according to law, and the following bids were received complying with the advertisement: Total Base Bid 1. LLC in the name of the City of Otsego Water Tower 1 Reconditioning, Improvement Project No. 601-2016-01, according to the specifications therefore approved by the city council and on file in the office of the City Clerk. 2. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to return forthwith to all bidders the bid bond made with their bids, except that the bid bond of the successful bidder and the next lowest bidder shall be retained until a contract has been signed.
