SUBJECT: Proposed Security System Updates
The City's security systems are aging, outdated, and not repairable in some cases thus are in
need of updating. This topic was discussed at the last Administrative Subcommittee meeting at
which time the Subcommittee concurred with staff recommendations but requested that
additional cameras be added to the proposal before presenting it to the Council for
consideration at a special meeting.
Attached are quotes from Wright Hennepin for the requested upgrades including the
Subcommittee's additions. Josh Neisch from Wright Hennepin will attend Monday's meeting to
explain the proposals in detail and staff will be present to answer questions. In addition to the
actual security equipment and installation costs, door modifications are necessary to several
doors to allow for security installation. Unfortunately, the locksmith has not yet provided a
cost estimate for that work.
If approved, the funding source for the security updates, other than for monthly monitoring, is
the Capital Improvement fund. This project was not included in the 2016 CIP; however, funds
are available in the Capital Improvement fund to complete the project in 2016.

Card Access System Proposal
Scope of work: Replace existing 2 card access systems with 1 system. Program in all doors currently on
system. Re -use wiring to readers, but replace all readers so they are the same style - add front door at
community center to system. Re -use existing power supplies. Add 4 doors to system that are not
currently covered at City Hall . All fobs to be replaced with new.

Scope of work: Replace existing analog camera system with digital system. Replace existing 3 dome
