RE: Otsego Prairie Festival 8c Car Show Update
Background:
At a special meeting in January, the City Council decided that the City should take a
more active role in the planning and implementation of the Otsego Festival. From this
meeting City Staff began the process of putting together a festival committee and
started to determine what aspects of the festival could be changed to enhance the
event and try and include more activities for a wider age range.
Since the coordinator of the Otsego festival decided not to get involved with the new
committee. The new festival committee decided to go forward and create a new name
and image for the festival. The name that was decided on was Otsego Prairie Festival
and Car Show. Since Otsego Rod and Custom has been a large part of the festival for
the past several years the committee felt that making the car show a more active
partner of the festival was a natural progression.
Activities that have been added to help enhance the festival:
• Paint Ball Dome
• 30 Youth Basketball Tournament
• Band
• Fireworks
• Pursued the possibility of a "Taste of Otsego"
• Moving the Car to a more central location
o Develop sponsorship levels
• Involved more community businesses on the Festival committee
The current festival committee is extremely excited and motivated to move forward
with plans and preparations for this year's festival, Although there has been a
considerable amount of work done to enhance the festival, the committee has also
worked equally has hard to keep the loyal vendors and merchants invovled who have
help maks the festival what it is today.
