RECOMMENDATION:
Recommend adoption of the reformatted position descriptions, which are consistent with the descriptions and
content used in the 2015 classification and compensation study.

BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
All of the City's position descriptions have now been reformatted to the updated format using the content
approved by the employee, supervisor, and City Administrator during the classification and compensation study.
These reformatted position descriptions reflect the duties, responsibilities, education, experience, and physical
requirements as stated in the position descriptions and position analysis questionnaires used for that study. The
physical requirements and working conditions section of the each position description was updated to utilize the
same format and data used for the study.
City Council approval of the position descriptions as previously distributed to the City Council on August 30,
2016, is requested. One change to the previously distributed descriptions is requested with that approval: The
Administrative Assistant position is taking over Planning Commission minute taking responsibilities effective this
month. The position description previously stated this position served as back up minute taker for the Planning
Commission. The description was revised to state that the Administrative Assistant is responsible for Planning
Commission minutes.
Once the City Council approves the position descriptions, the approval date will be inserted. These position
descriptions will be on file and remain in place until a different version is approved by the City Council.

Motion to approve updated position descriptions for all City positions as distributed to the Council on
August 30, 2016, and as on file with the Human Resource Generalist/Deputy Clerk with the revision in
the Administrative Assistant description as stated in the staff report.
