October 11, 2016 Meeting Minutes
Call to Order.
Public Safety Chair Chuck Schauss called the meeting to order at 6:30pm
Roll Call: Mayor Jessica Stockamp; Councilmembers: Jason Warenhime.
Chuck Schauss, Mark Driste, Tina Driste, Jim Breitbach, Greg Hubbard, Bill Abderhalden. Elk
River Deputy Chief Aaron Surrat; Elk River Ambulance – Steve, Wright County Sheriff
ABSENT: Paul Fields, Rogers Fire Chief Feist, Albertville Fire Chief Bullen
1._____Approve agenda.
Commissioner M. Driste motioned to approve agenda as written. Seconded by
Commissioner Schauss. All in favor. Motion carried.
2._____Approve meeting minutes.
2.1 September 13, 2016.
Commissioner Abderhalden motioned to approve minutes as written. Seconded by
Commissioner T. Driste. All in favor. Motion carried.
3._____Open Forum.

4._____Public Safety Police/Fire/Ambulance Updates.
No AFD-reports attached

ERFD- Live burn Saturday, 10-15-16 starting at about 8am 524 4th Street
Hiring 2-4 individuals; 30 applicants on a waiting list
Jan 25, 2017 Fire Academy starts; fully funded by state for each FF
Wright County Sheriff- medicals & psych; a couple of “clown” incidents
ER Ambulance-Steve provided the 3rd quarter response times. Discussed the two county delay
for calls going out. Steve complimented Wright County Sheriff on a call at Three Rivers Health
Club (73 yr. old male, down); everything done right.
Illegal burns: fire and sheriff encourage calling 911 if question/concern re: burns
5._____Old Business.
Final CERT proposal presented/reviewed. Commissioner Schauss will present to the City
Council at the Nov 14th meeting (if okayed by council to add to agenda). Once date confirmed an
email will be sent out. Safety commission members encouraged to attend.
Gathering and mapping response times for fire /ambulance discussed-Commissioner
Abderhalden stated he has Albertville completed, he will contact Deputy Chief Surrat to get data
for Elk River Fire, and he will contact Chief Feist to get Rogers info. He will have this
completed by the next meeting (November 9th, 2016)
6._____New Business.
November meeting has been changed to WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 9, 2016 @ 6:30pm
(due to the election on November 8, 2016)
