City Council: CM Doug Schroeder and Mayor Jessica St ckarnp. staff: Ross Demant, Parks and Recreation Manager and Sandy Und of is r, Special Licensing. 1, Open _Forum. Randy welch of Otsego Little League approached the Commission regarding the donation of the batting cages that were previously located at Godfather's Pizza in Otsego. Mr. welch said that footings and a base will need to be installed. Parks and Recreation Manager Demant said that before moving forward, the cages and equipment would need to be inspected and looked at by the city Engineer and respective sites will be looked at before bringing this back to the Parks and Recreation Commissiont . consider aaenda approval. Nor. 3acob Posturna of 7357 Lamont Circle NE, Boy Scout Troop 590, presented the plans and specifications for a Military Tribute Monument to be located in front of the flag pole in Prairie Park, stating the project has just received approval from his Scout Council. Mr. Pestuma is asking the Parks and Recreation Commission if they would consider a donation to cover the concrete footings, electrical work for lights, mulch and any permit foes needed to complete this project, Councilmember Schroeder will look into costs for the footings and concrete slab. Parks and Recreation Manager Dennant will get cost estimates for different typos of lighting and bring those back to the net Parks and recreation meeting noting that the lighting for the .monument does not need to be done immediately and could be budgeted for. CM Brumm motioned to moire forward with the construction of a Military Tribute Monument to be located in front of the flag pole in Prairie Peak. Seconded by CM Cassady. All in favor. Motion carried. 5,2 Election of Chair and Vice Chair. Chair Torreani opened up the nominations for Chair. CM Cassady nominated C i rum . Seconded by CM Torre ani, Chi Krekelberg nominated Chair Torre ani. Seconded by CM Brumm, CM Brumm nominated CM Cassady. Seconded by Chair Torre ani. After the Commissioners Voted, Chair Torre ani was re -erected as Chair. Chair Toreani opened up the nominations for Vice Chair. Chair Torreani nominated M VonBerg for Vice Chair. Seconded by CM Brumm, CM ii rumor nominated CM Cassady. Seconded by Cid Torre ani. After the Commissioners voted, CM Von erg was re-elected as Vice Chair. CM Krekelberg motioned to destroy the ballots. Seconded by Chair Torreeni: All in furor. Motion Carried. Parks and Recreation Manager Update._ Parrs and Recreation Manager Demant said things are going well. A Workshop has been scheduled with the city Council and Parks and Recreation on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at City Hall to discuss the remodeling of Prairie Center, the Otsego Prairie Festival and the Soccer Fields. Parks and Recreation Manager Demant will update on Friday, Larch 22, 2013. Cly Krel elberg was concerned about the types of movies shown, in the parrs, noting the age range and rating of the movies. Parks and Recreation Manager Demant nt said from now on, they will check into the community before scheduling the movie locations. Chair Torrean! asked if the Parrs and Recreation Commission members were going to be involved in the Otsego Prairie Festival. Parks and Recreation reation Tanager Demant said they currently have a committee but will ask the Parks and Recreation Commission to get involved in the eventt 7 ,__c.iy._ un it Reports._ City Coun ilmember Schroeder said that the City Building Department has 27 net/ home permits to date and a neer plat of 34 homes has been brought in. The Pour Wine ri co, located in the old Bob's Produce building will be opening soon.
