RE: Lefebvre Creek Park Final Concept Review
Background:
City Staff reviewed the initial Lefebvre Creek Park concepts at the February 2017 Parks
and Recreation Commission meeting. During the review, Commissioners requested that
the K-5 and Pre -K play areas be switched in the play container so the younger children
would be further away from the storm water pond. A fence separating the play
container and the pond was discussed and determined not to be needed due to the
landscaping that will be present once the playground equipment is installed. A half -
court basketball area also was a Commissioner recommendation and was added to the
current concept.
The next step in the park planning process is to select playground equipment for the
play container. SRF Consulting Group will be presenting two separate playground
designs that incorporate both the traditional equipment and the newer pre -cast nature
based equipment. Both designs fall within the same price range and both offer
equipment that serves children ages pre -kindergarten to 5 years old. Shelter designs
and a conceptual rendering of the proposed observation deck overlooking the pond will
also be made available at the Parks and Recreation Commission meeting on Tuesday.
Requested Action:
Staff is requesting that the Parks and Recreation Commission review the material
included in this memo and provide a recommendation to staff on what equipment to
include at Lefebvre Creek Park.
