ARE YOU SEEKING APPROVAL OF A CONTRACT? IS A PUBLIC HEARING REQUIRED? No I No BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION: Wright County has requested a letter of support regarding HSIP funding regarding several busy intersections along CSAH 39. The intersections are located at Nashua, Odean, Ohland and Page Avenues. Wright County received a letter of support from Otsego several years ago for a similar project that improved lighting at CSAH intersections within the City of Otsego. Wright County is hopeful they can secure funding for these busy City to CSAH intersections. Staff has drafted a letter for the Mayor to sign and send in support of securing the HSIP funding. Buffalo, MN 55313 RE: HSIP Grants for Street Lighting Dear Mr. Hawkins: The City Council of Otsego, MN is supportive of Wright County's efforts to secure Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) for street lighting of the busy City/County intersections of CSAH 39 and Nashua, CSAR 39 and Odean Avenue, CSAR 39 and Ohland, and CSAR 39 and Page. In the past, there have been numerous accidents at these intersections and better lighting may reduce or eliminate future accidents.
