Staff recommends approval of Work Order No. 1 in the amount of $252,714.25, for the extension of 16"
watermain the last % mile south to 70th Street.

BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
With the Kadler Avenue Street project being postponed to 2018, it is necessary to approve a change order
to the Kadler Avenue Watermain Extension project currently underway. The change order will be for the
construction of 16" Watermain from 70th Street to % mile north, which was to be completed with the
Kadler Avenue Street project.
The Kadler Avenue Watermain Extension project was awarded to LaTour Construction, Inc. to construct
approximately 8,450 feet (1.6 miles) of watermain in the amount of $762,520.25. This included 16" and
12" pipe installed via open cut and directional drilling. The proposed Work Order #1 consists of 2,490 feet
(0.47 miles) of 16" watermain installed via open cut installation. The project includes 2 sanitary sewer
connections and stubs that are deeper than the proposed watermain. These connections and stubs will
need to be installed at this time prior to the watermain.
The south Yz mile extension will require partial lane closures of Kadler Avenue during construction with
temporary full closure of the road while the contractor makes the necessary crossings.
Most items for this Work Order #1 are using the existing contract unit prices from the current project.
LaTour Construction has provided unit prices for the additional items not included in the original contract
(i.e. salvage and reinstall existing CMP, Class 5 Aggregate, 10" Watermain Pipe, 8" Sanitary Sewer Pipe, and
2 Sanitary Sewer Manhole connections).

A'/2 mile of 16" watermain shall be installed along Kadler Avenue between the existing
16" pipe at 70th Street to the south end of the existing Kadler Avenue Watermain
Extension project. This work order is to furnish and install the items necessary to
completed this work and all work shall be in accordance with the Kadler Avenue
Watermain Extension Project Manual and specifications. The final completion date of
the project shall be extended from September 15th, 2017 to October 15th, 2017.
