1. Call to Order
Public Safety Commission Chair Chuck Schauss called the meeting to order at 6:33 PM.

Others Present: Albertville Fire Chief Eric Bullen, Wright County Sheriff Deputy Thole
2. Approve Agenda
Breitbach moved to approve the Agenda, seconded by Schauss. The motion carried
unanimously.
3. Approve 7-11-17 Meeting Minutes
Abderhalden moved to approve the July 11, 2017 Public Safety Commission Meeting minutes,
seconded by Breitbach. The motion carried unanimously.
4. Open Forum
No matters were brought forward for discussion.
5. Public Safety Police / Fire / Ambulance Updates
a) Albertville: Chief Bullen reported that it was a record -setting month with 80 calls year to
date.
Bullen said three new firefighters were hired last month. One resigned last week. There
are a total of 31 on the roster at this time.
b) Wright County Sheriff: Deputy Thole said that except for a fire at the trailer park, it has
been a quiet month.
c) Council Member Warehime said the City Council approved an outdoor party at
Rockwoods Grill this past June. The restaurant held another party last weekend without
requesting approval from the City Council. There were no major incidents. Warehime
said Rockwoods had a security team on site.
6. Old Business
a) CERT: Schauss said he is waiting until after August 11, 2017 to hear from interested
parties. He has received a few emails from potential participants. Schauss believes there
will be at least fifteen potential team members. After August 11, he will send out

applications, and then gather everyone together to figure next steps. The City Council
stated that the CERT team should be an independent entity from the City.
7. New Business
a) The Public Safety Commission welcomed new member John Braun.
b) There was discussion about ways to participate in the 2018 National Night Out
event. Schauss deferred further planning until this winter.
c) Abderhalden moved, seconded by Schauss, to forward a recommendation to the
City Council to conduct a Master Plan Fire Service Study for the entire City of Otsego.
The motion carried unanimously. Abderhalden will forward the recommendation to
City Administrator Adam Flaherty.
d) There was discussion about potential future plans for the Timothy’s at Riverwood
site, although nothing has been finalized at this point.
e) Warehime reported that two more applications have been received to fill the
alternate position on the Commission. Interviews will be held at the end of August.
8. City Council Meeting Updates
Fields said there were no updates to report. Warehime said there were no police or other
complaints.

10. Adjourn
Breitbach moved to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Abderhalden. The meeting adjourned at
7:03 PM.
