RECOMMENDATION:
City staff is recommending that the City Council schedule special City Council meetings for review of the
Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) and Public Utility budgets.

In December, the City Council will need to adopt: 1) the 2018 operating budgets; 2) the 2018-2027 Capital
Improvement Plan; and 3) the final property tax levy for taxes payable in 2018.
In preparation for the adoption of the items listed above, staff is recommending the scheduling of special
City Council meetings to adequately review the Capital Improvement Plan and Public Utility budgets. A
tentative outline of the meetings is as follows:
1) October 9th — Fleet Equipment CIP
2) October 23rd — Public Utility Operating Budgets & Respective CIP
3) November 13th — Pavement Management CIP
4) November 27th — Remaining CIP (Administration, IT, Parks & Trails, Buildings, etc)
Additional review of the General fund and property tax levy will also be potential items for review at any of
these meetings.

Motion to schedule special City Council meetings on October 9th, October 23rd, November 13th and
November 27th, all of which will directly follow the regular scheduled meeting and will be held at the Prairie
Center.
