Staff recommends authorization for staff to accept the quote from Omann Brothers Paving Inc. in the
amount of $47,992.62 to complete repairs to Kadler Ave.

BACKGROU ND/J USTI FICATI ON:
The work has progressed along Kadler Avenue Watermain Extension project with all of the directionally
drilling completed. During the directional drilling crossing under Kadler Avenue, cracks and settlements
started appearing in the road surface. These cracks and settlements have been monitored since they
appeared and have not worsened in many weeks. We believe all of the road subgrade movement is
finished.
The proposed repairs will include full depth reclamation (-8" deep) of the bituminous and aggregate base
and repaving with 3.5" of new bituminous over the entire width of the road for approximately 825 feet.
The estimated construction cost for these repairs is $45,777.25. The construction contract amount for the
Kadler Avenue Watermain Extension is $1,015,234.50. To date engineering expenditures amount to
$62,500. The project cost for the well and pumphouse upgrades are not anticipated to exceed $250,000.
The CIP had a project cost of $1,525,000 for the entire project. The anticipated total project cost with the
street repairs will likely remain under the CIP budget.
Council authorized staff to request quotes for the repairs. Requests for quotes were sent to three
companies. Due to work loads, only one company returned the quote.
Omann Brother Paving, Inc. submitted a quote slightly higher than the engineers estimate. Omann's quote
was for $47,992.62 or roughly 5% higher than the estimate.
