RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends the City Council approve entering into a grant contract with the State of Minnesota to
receive an Outdoor Recreation Grant in the amount of $150,000 for the construction of Norin Landing.

BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
Staff received notice in June of this year that the City of Otsego was awarded an Outdoor Recreation
Grant from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources in the amount of $150,000 for the
construction of Norin Landing.
Money from the grant will go to assist with construction costs of the park's pavilion, parking, boat
landing, trails, and landscaping. As part of requirements for receiving the funding, the City will be
required to post signage from the DNR at Norin Landing recognizing that the site has received grant
funding and must comply with certain reporting criteria.
Construction of the Norin Landing is estimated to begin in the Spring of 2018 with an estimated
completion date of August 2018. The grant requires all work to be completed by December 31, 2019.
City Attorney MacArthur has reviewed the grant contract and is recommending it for approval.
